Words of Inspiration and Motivation

“First, we parents have to back up school authority and quit making excuses for our kids when they misbehave.” - Hillary Rodham Clinton, It Takes a Village

"Each of us must come to care about everyone else's children. We must recognize that the welfare of our children is intimately linked to the welfare of all other people's children. After all, when one of our children needs life-saving surgery, some else's child will perform it. If one of our children is harmed by violence, someone else's child will be responsible for the violent act. The good life for our own children can be secured only if a good secured for all other people's children." - Lilian Katz

"Experts generally agree that taking all opportunties to read books and other material aloud to children is the best preparation for their learning to read. The pleasures of being read to are far more likely to strengthen a child's desire to learn to read than are repetitions of sounds, alphabet drills, and deciphering uninteresting word". Lilian Katz

  1. Hello Amy,

I agree with your quote from Hillary Clinton that "Home is the first and most important classroom." Parents are the first teachers. They establish rules, discipline, and begin early childhood education even before their children are introduced to teachers. Great job on your Inspirations and Motivations assignment.

  2. Hello Amy,

I also like your quote from Hillary Clinton that states that we should stop making excuses for our children when they misbehave. I agree that it takes a village to raise children. This reminds me of how my mother takes out time with the children in our community. She even make the guys pull up their pants. I hope that I too can be a great inspiraton and motivator to the children when I start teaching.

  3. Hi Amy,

I really like your post for words of inspiration and motivations from Lilian Katz. I truly believe that we as educators and other adults in a young child’s lives should be making sure that each and every child is taking care of in a positive way.
I also can see what Hillary Rodham Clinton means when we as parents need to stop standing in our children’s way when they do something wrong. I believe that children should face their consequences and then maybe they would not be going back and forth with how to behavior around others.
